Mr. Aljendro Simancas Marin – Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba – New Delhi had an interactive meeting with GCCI today and discussed how the trade and investment can enhance for the mutual benefit. President Shri Hemant Shah welcomed the Ambassador.  He mentioned that this is the very first meeting from Cuba, although India & Cuba have strong bilateral relationships.

Mr. Aljendro Simancas Marin said that this year is 62nd anniversary of India-Cuba relationship.  He mentioned there are great opportunities and potential in both the countries, however the trade is limited between India & Cuba. The Ambassador further mentioned that Cuba has a lot of opportunities for Investments from India as the MSMEs and Education industries of India are established and strong in trade & commerce.

Shri Hemant Shah, President of GCCI gave a brief on the activities of GCCI. Also he mentioned that GCCI is an apex body representing commerce and trade to the Central Ministry to help enhance the opportunities and ease of doing business. Mr. President further informed that GCCI also is engaged in a lot of CSR activities to help the local government and the society at large. The President requested for more of fruitful and mutually beneficial meetings and exchange of delegation between Cuba and GCCI.

The MSME Deputy Director, Mr. Vikas Gupta and the Deputy Director, Mr. Solanki from the MSME-DI, Ahmedabad also visited along with the Ambassador of Cuba.

Also were present with the Ambassador of Cuba the eminent team members of Rastriya Raksha University (RRU), Gandhinagar.

MSME and RRU jointly showed their interest in technical / industrial set-ups in Cuba with purposeful training from the RRU.

The President of GCCI reiterated the contacts with Cuban Chamber of Commerce for exchange of commerce and trade with Cuba.
