The first Industrial visit by the GCCI Youth Wing for the year 2020-21 was organised on December 12th, 2020 to the Coca Cola plant in Sanand. The industrial visit was truly a unique experience as it is a state of the art, world class facility with complete digitisation and automation. The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has awarded the Gold certificate to this facility. The plant symbolises innovation and advancement in technology, excellence in management and empowerment through teamwork.

The members of the Youth Wing thoroughly enjoyed the plant visit and cherished the takeaways and learnings that enriched them. The plant implemented many impressive managerial and operational practices that were worth learning for the young entrepreneurs of GCCI Youth Wing. The plant focused on empowering, encouraging and motivating it employees from the top level management to the lowest level by educating them and creating a strong sense on team work and ownership. During the visit, the factory manager also shared some great practices that were followed at the plant for ensuring quality and efficiency in production.

The visited started off with a walkthrough around the plant and seeing the production and assembling process followed with an open round of discussion with the factory manager. After the visit, the members had a round of internal discussion to share their takeaways and observations from this visit. The experience was truly a one-of-its-kind experiences that were specially arranged for the members of the Youth Wing.

Some of the important take-aways from the visit were:

-Importance of collecting and analysing data in order to ensure optimum level of performance and avoid errors in operations.

-Creating and implementing SOPs to help an organisation operate smoothly and efficiently

-Importance of giving ownership to employees at a lower level in the hierarchy.

-Having a robust recruitment system to ensure that the right talent is recruited at all levels

-Importance of orientation and training during the recruitment process.
