Mr. MD. Lutfor Rahman – Dy. High commissioner of Bangladesh – MUMBAI had an interactive meeting with GCCI today and discussed how the trade and investment can enhance for the mutual benefit. President Shri Hemant Shah welcomed the DY. High Commissioner a. He mentioned that Bangladesh is now amongst the top 5 countries for export from India. We have a lot of scope to grow and GCCI will be too happy to take the suitable action in this regard.
Mr. MD. Lutfor Rahman said that Bangladesh is celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relation and INDIA is looked as elder brother and he appreciated the help given for vaccination and medicines supply during pandemic. As regards trade we are close to USD 10 BILLION and Gujarat and Maharashtra are the 2 top states leading the trade relationship.
Shri Anil Jain Chairman Foreign trade task force referred the MOU signed by GCCI and Bangladesh Chamber & Industry in 2019 needs to be revived and we can exchange trade delegation which are sector specific. Textile, Food, Horticulture could be of interest from our side and he suggested that BCI may also suggest the sector of their interest.
Shri Amit Parikh shared that GCCI can collaborate for Skill development and start up as Bangladesh is a young country and have major population below 35.
Shri Apoorva shah discussed about issues they are facing for payments through Bank. It was suggested that GCCI may send communication to their high commission or invite the economic and commercial attaché from Delhi who can help in the matter.
Shri Shirin Parikh highlighted the issue of transportation and willingness of CONCOR to help Bangladesh to make Railway station, yard, warehouse etc. for speedy clearance of cargo. GCCI may suitably take up the matter.
Mr Rehman also suggested to approach BEZA in Dacca for investment in Bangladesh. CEPA is under process and it is hoped that it will be implemented soon.
