Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized an interactive meeting with the Taiwan delegation at GCCI Premises. Mr. James Chen, member of TAITRA's Advisory Committee was the speaker of the meeting.
Shri Rohit Patel, President, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry welcomed the delegate Mr. James Chen and highlighted the recent tie up with Foxconn and mentioned Gujarat as a Perfect destination for Taiwan investors in manufacturing Sector.
Miss Bhagyesh Soneji, Chairperson, GCCI gave the theme address and mentioned that SMEs are the strength of Gujarat where Taiwanese investors can invest. She provided the brief information regarding the Taiwanese delegation which would come in the first week of October 2015 and mentioned this meeting as a kick start for the future preparation. As there would be many B2B meetings, she proposed Mr. James to sign at least one MOU between Gujarat and Taiwan.
Mr. James Chen, in his address remarked that Gujarat and Taiwan has many similarities between them such as long coastline, open minded people, trade oriented economy and etc, which would be very helpful in building up the long relationship of both the countries. He highlighted Electronics, ICT products, Plastics, Chemicals and Medical instruments as the major export sectors of Taiwan. While they are importing the products from India such as spices, industrial components, cotton and shipbuilding components. He has mentioned India and Taiwan’s relation with a creative example of IT= India Software + Taiwan’s Hardware.
Mr. James Chen’s address was followed by an interactive session where he responded to the participants’ queries on matter of exports of Gems & Jewellery, Cotton and Textiles. He also mentioned that Taiwan is planning for investment before 2020 in Gujarat and provided the brief details of TAIRA’s trade shows in 2016.
