Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and The Ahmedabad Toy Association jointly organized an “Interactive Session on BIS Law & its Application on Toys” today at GCCI premises. In view of the COVID pandemic, the participants were also allowed to join through virtual platform.
At the outset, GCCI President welcomed the participants and apprised the participants about GCCI and its activities. He remarked that the Indian Toy Industry has huge untapped potential. He applauded the initiatives taken by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to ensure safety and quality of the toys. He also mentioned about the issue faced by the toys industry due to the sudden decision to make BIS certification mandatory on toys and suggested that some time should be given to toy retailers to clear their existing stocks.
Shri Sumit Sengar, Scientist E & Head, BIS, AHBO-II gave a brief overview of the activities and role of BIS and highlighted the purpose and objective of the Interactive Session.
Shri S K Singh, Scientist E & Head, BIS, AHBO-I shared a presentation on the Provisions of BIS Act 20216 and Toys (Quality Control) Order.
Shri Shiv Prakash, Scientist D, BIS, AHBO-I shared a presentation on the procedure of Grant of Licence and product specific guidelines related to Toys.
Shri Abhishek, Scientist B, BIS, AHBO-II showed a Live Demonstration of submission of online Application on BIS portal to give more clarity to the participants.
The participants got a chance to clear their doubts in the queries session. Shri Ketan Vora, President, The Ahmedabad Toy Association – TATA concluded the event with his Concluding remarks and Vote of thanks.
