Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & industry organized interactive session on ‘Cyber Security’ on December 7, 2018 at 4.00 PM at GCCI
Dr Jaimin Vasa, President, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry while welcomed all the dignitaries and guests in the seminar mentioned the objective of the seminar is to focus on challenges faced by cyber security on the latest technologies. It also focuses on the latest cyber security techniques, ethics and the trends changing the face of cyber security. This seminar on Cyber Security includes an Overview of Cybercrimes such as Electronic Commerce Crime, Economic Espionage, Infrastructure attacks, Defamation, Obscenity, Content Accountability, Copyright Violations, Trademark Violations, E commerce, Taxation, Provisions in the legal framework to combat Cybercrimes and finally discussed about Indian Cyber Law and provision of court proceeding for Cybercrimes and Cyber Law from India and International perspective.

Shri Vishal Shah, Co-Founder& CEO, Synersoft Technologies Pvt Ltd explained the trends that are having a huge impact on cyber security. The threat of attacks on web applications to extract data or to distribute malicious code. He emphasised the requirement of paid antivirus and emails. Organization must use VPN and the importance of administrator password and how to keep it strong. He gave the Rule 23 for the industries to approximate the investment on the IT along with thwe recurring investment.
Mr. Ajay Tomar, IPS, Addl DGP Crime-1 mentioned Under cyber security. He shared the statistics that in year 2016 there were 40% mobile based cyber-attacks. Also, the methods and methodology for safe and secure cyber use are taught. He has also shared interesting details of few registered cases of cybercrime happened and their investigation process of solving the same. He shared the case study of Cosmos Bank.
He also mentioned that today more than 60 percent of total commercial transactions are done online, so this field required a high quality of security for transparent and best transactions. Hence cyber security has become a latest issue. The scope of cyber security is not just limited to securing the information in IT industry but also to various other fields like cyber space etc.
Shri Unmesh Shukla, Advocate, Gujarat High Court mentioned that today many nations and governments are imposing strict laws on cyber securities in order to prevent the loss of some important information. Every individual must also be trained on this cyber security and save themselves from these increasing cyber-crimes.
Shri J C Upadhyaya, Justice, Gujarat High Court (Retd.) explained cybercrime and the legislation in India dealing with offences relating to the use of or concerned with the abuse of computers or other electronic gadgets. The Information Technology Act 2000 and the I.T. Amendment Act 2008 have been dealt with in detail and other legislations dealing with electronic offences have been discussed in brief.
The seminar was very much enlightening for the business community as well as for the students that provided with some of the very important steps one should take to stay away from such cybercrimes. The seminar was ended with full of Information and vision of being safe and secure in the virtual world.
