GCCI Defence Committee in association with FICCI, ASSOCHAM & SIDM organized a webinar on Interaction with Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSUs) – Industry interaction for enhancing self-reliance in defence production on 19th January 2022 with Shri Sanjay Jaju, Additional Secretary, Government of India, Department of Defence. Chairman & Managing Director of 8 DPSUs shared their presentations and gave useful guidance for MSME’s participation in the defence manufacturing sector to participants and shared great insights about vendor registrations and processes.

The List of DPSUs is as under:

  2. Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVANI)- Chennai – Mr Sanjay Dwivedi
  3. Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWE India) – Kanpur – Mr A K Maurya
  4. India Optel Limited (IOL) -Raipur, Dehradun – Mr Nitesh Goe
  5. Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) – Hyderabad – Mr Narhari Prasad
  6. Troop Comforts Limited (TCL)-Kanpur – Mr Atul Gupta
  7. Gliders India Limited (GIL)- Kanpur – Mr Subhashish Banerjee
  8. Yantra India Limited (YIL) – Nagpur – Mr Anil Kumar Rai

Shri Hemant Shah, GCCI President initiated the webinar with a brief introduction of Hon’ble Additional secretary, Shri Sanjay Jaju and other dignitaries.

Shri Piyush Tamboli, Chairman, Defence Committee conducted the webinar.

Shri Sanjay Jaju in his address stated that the government has great hopes from the industry to partner in creating self-reliance in defence production and will be hosting “Defence expo” in Gujarat, it will also create an ecosystem in the host state to collaborate with Global & Indian industries.

Hon’ble Additional Secretary, Defence department; also spoke about the growing objectives and vision behind Make in India & Atmanirbhar Bharat scheme as well as the collaborative industrial approach. The defence Expo’s have worked as a milestone for defence manufacturing Co’s to march ahead. In his address Hon’ble Additional Secretary mentioned that how domestic design & manufacturing approach can become the Cardinal principle to be launched in our country. Talking about the areas where Gujarat could be one such state which is possibly been argued as new strengthened state entering the defence sector manufacturing, where multiple players can create opportunities to engage under cross-section of different Co’s.

GCCI has been playing a lead role in filling gaps and collaborating with help desks and starting Industrial visits also.

The program concluded with interactive session between the participants and representative of DPSUs.

Ms. Varsha Adhikari, Co-chairperson, Defence Committee GCCI proposed the Vote of thanks for the event and she mentioned that the second part of the series will be conducted on 21st January 2022 from 4 to 6 pm with the following List of DPSUs are as under:
