Interactive Awareness Programme on Opportunities for Industries Participation in the Defence Sector

  • Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Institute of Defence Studies and Research (IDSR) organized an Interactive Awareness Programme on Opportunities for Industries Participation in the Defence Sector. Anju Sharma, IAS, Chairperson, IDSR and Dr. Nidhi Bansal, Director, DTDF, DRDO remained present.
  • Shri Hemant Shah, Senior Vice President, GCCI welcomed all the participants and stated that Government of Gujarat has taken visionary steps to encourage its growth and is the first state in the country to provide legislative support to the Defence sector. Further he stated that with so many measures being announced to promote Indigenization and private participation, we firmly believe that Gujarat's Business Community should definitely look into the opportunities which are available today to supply to the Indian Defence Sector
  • Dr. Nidhi Bansal, Director of Technology Development Fund, DRDO in her presentation discussed the various aspects of Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme. She discussed the process flow of the scheme and how this scheme is essential for MSMEs and Start-ups, the process for engaging Nascent Start-ups and Funding mechanism for MSMEs
  • Chief Guest, Anju Sharma, Chairperson, IDSR stated that DRDO is proactively reaching out to industry which is a welcome step. She further acknowledged that Gujarat is a manufacturer of various parts for defence sector, and it will help to reach out to large number of innovators of the State. She proposed that DRDO should allow ideas selected by IDSR and those projects should be funded by DRDO.
  • Shri Pathik Patwari, Hon. Secretary, GCCI in his concluding address mentioned that programmes like this will ignite minds of innovators in Gujarat and it will bridge the gap between Industries and Government.
