In India, 17 lakh tonnes of E-waste are generated every year, with an annual increase of 5 percent of generation of e-waste. The E-waste (Management) Rules 2016 notified in supersession of the e-waste (Management & Handling) Rules, 2011 provide several options to manufacturers – such as collection of a refundable deposit and paying for the return of goods – to meet the requirements of law. The role of State Government has been also introduced to ensure Safety, Health and Skill development of the workers involved in dismantling and recycling operations.
In order to create more awareness, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry and PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in association with Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, are jointly organizing a Workshop on "E-Waste Management - Challenges, Prospects and Strategies" on 25th July 2017 at 10:00 AM at GCCI Premises, Opp. Vallabh Sadan, Ashram Road, Ahmedabad.
The overall objective of this workshop is to provide an insight into various aspects of e-waste management with respect to the current situation and future scenario.
