Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized a Lecture on "Role of Corporate India: Empowering the Specially Abled" on November 14, 2014 at 04:00 PM at GCCI. Shri Pranav Desai, ANCHOR of group "Empowering The Specially-Abled" on www.India272.com, was the Esteemed Speaker of the Lecture.
In his welcome address, Shri Samir Patel, Vice President, GCCI emphasized the need of private sector companies, in addition to Government and Public Sector Undertakings, to come forward to provide equal employment opportunities to the Specially Abled people. Shri Rohit Shah, Chairman, GCCI CSR Committee briefed the participants that the aim of GCCI CSR committee is to provide a common platform for corporates and NGOs so that the funds from corporates can be channelized to NGOs and genuine social development can be ensured.
In his Lecture, Shri Pranav Desai explained various possible solutions through which the corporates can provide a social and physical barrier-free environment to the Specially Abled, while ensuring the productivity of the organization. He also explained various types of projects which can be undertaken by the corporates under the CSR provisions of Companies Act, 2013 for the Specially Abled.
Smt. Paruben Jaykrishna, Past President, GCCI shared her thoughts on the CSR provisions being included in the Companies Act and highlighted that it was an excellent medium to return back to the society by empowering the Specially Abled people. The Lecture concluded with Vote of Thanks by Smt. Anarben Patel, Co-Chairperson, GCCI CSR Committee.
