Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the LxS Foundation inaugurated the Heritage Grade (II) Government Girls High School at Raipur Khadia for the purpose of conserving social heritage. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Gujarat Chamber Foundation and LxS Foundation for setting up of Girls Innovation Center in collaboration with the Department of Education, Government of Gujarat, UNESCO Delhi, Alliance Française d'Ahmedabad and Indian National Trust for Art & Culture (INTACH).
Shri Natubhai Patel, President, GCCI in his welcome address stated that Gujarat Chamber Foundation has always been active in social works, whether it is natural calamities or difficult situation like Covid-19 pandemic, Mahajan has come forward to help common people in many ways in times of crisis. He discussed that the Government's New Education Policy mentions restoring and developing a heritage site under the School of Excellence. As part of this, GCCI has decided to develop a 200-year-old heritage property as a “Girls Innovation Center”. Just as years ago Mahajans built the VS Hospital in Ahmedabad for the welfare of society and under the leadership of Kasturbhai during that time Mahajans developed zoo or library for the society. In the same way Mahajans will complete the construction of this heritage school within three years. He thanked Shri Trilokbhai Parikh, Trustee, Gujarat Chamber Foundation for his contribution of Rs. 15,00,000 towards this project.
Ms. Sanskriti Panchal, founder, LxS Foundation gave a presentation on the project and gave a brief overview about the project, stating that the project would also preserve the heritage and provide free and quality education to the girls of common and poor people. Thus, future generations will benefit greatly.
Shri Pathik Patwari, Hon. Secretary, GCCI stated that this is not just a renovation of a historic site but a historic day and GCCI is fortunate to be a part of such project. He also mentioned that if we take care of such historic places, people from Europe will come to visit our heritage sites as this is a unique attempt to make good use of heritage. He requested other associations also to join hands in such works.
