The key dignitaries at the seminar included Smt. Lipika Majumdar Roychaudhary, Chief Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs, Ahmedabad, Shri A. K. Gupta, Commissioner of Service Tax, Ahmedabad, Shri Rewat Raja Behl, Dy. Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs, Ahmedabad and Shri Pankaj Kumar, Asst. Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs, Ahmedabad. The event was about e-filing of returns and other service tax issues. The event commenced with a welcome address by Shri Mahendra N. Patel, President, GCCI. From October 2011, e-filing of service tax return has been made compulsory for the tax payers. In year 1994 Service Tax commenced with 3 services, which at present counts on 119 services. During last budget, changes were made in relation to point of taxation. For all these reasons Central Gov. & Department of Customs along with GCCI organized the seminar with an aim to increase awareness and answer queries towards “E-filing (Service Tax), introduction of New Services & Point of Taxation. Shri Nilesh Desai, Hon. Treasurer, GCCI also attended the event.
