Gujarat has been recognized globally as a preferred investment destination, and this has resulted in increased interest of foreign companies to invest in the state. In order to promote and increase bilateral trade and encourage joint ventures between the state and other countries, the Foreign Trade Committee was last reconstituted in August 2013. The committee aims to give a proper guidance to the Investment to the Foreign Investor and organize events and business meets to generate Investment opportunities for the betterment and growth of the State. The committee serves as a perfect platform to understand and explore business opportunities in the State as well as country.
Scope of the Committee
- Meeting visiting Foreign Delegations.
- Promoting MOUs with overseas trade organizations.
- Export Facilitation/Grievance Committee for interaction with the Customs Dept.
- Sending Trade promotion delegations abroad with government incentives.
- Participation and joint programs with FICCI, ASSOCHAM, CII etc.
- To organize seminars and conferences for EXIM matters.

The committee has invited foreign delegations on regular basis, some of the important ones include delegations from Taiwan, Austria, UK, Australia, Malayasia, Kenya, Italy, Israel, Belgium, Australia, Canada, Germany and others. The proposed events of the committee include sending suggestions and recommendation on the foreign trade policy, reactivating the MOUs signed with apex chambers of other countries, bringing a study on FTA & CEPA, sending delegations to various countries and organizing a seminar on how to become an exporter and importance of virtual marketing.
